Windows 11 Build 22593 is now available through the Dev and Beta channels. Build 22593 contains all the changes planned for Windows 11 22H2. This update is from the Nickel fork (ni_nickel), which doesn’t include support for tabs in File Explorer, but a bunch of fixes are included in this patch.
Windows 11 Insider Preview 22593 (NI_RELEASE) brings some changes to File Explorer, but no major changes. And all improvements or fixes are tied to version 22H2.
In Windows 11 Build 22593, the Quick Access tab on the left sidebar was updated to the Home page. Build 22593 integrates Office 365 and OneDrive into File Explorer and populates with content from linked accounts.
Quick Access refers to the Pinned/Favorites section, while the Pinned Files feature is now called Favorites. This is to keep File Explorer consistent with Office and OneDrive.
Users can search recent and pinned files directly from the search box. Searches will get results from Office, so the most recent Office files shared with you will be displayed.
Improvements in Windows 11 Build 22593
While Windows 11 Build 22593 doesn’t contain major changes, just a few bug fixes. But these improvements are also worth mentioning.
In Build 22593, the journal will be pinned to the pen menu by default. If you haven’t installed the app and click Options in the Windows 11 Pen menu, the app will be installed on your device. Journal started as an experiment in the Microsoft Garage Project and is now part of the operating system.
In Build 22593 or later, you can press WIN + Z and see a snapshot layout with an associated number, so you can easily use the number keys to select a layout.
On the security front, Microsoft will notify users to turn on the memory integrity feature in the operating system in Windows Security (Device Security > Kernel Isolation), which can prevent attacks by inserting malicious code into high-security processes.
Finally, Microsoft updated the ADLaM keyboard layout to add access to brackets and ADLaM Hamza.
