Intel i5-7500 processors cannot run Windows 11. So devices based on the Intel i5-7500 processor will not be able to upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11. While PCs based on the Intel i5-7500 processor are eligible for other upgrades to Windows 11, Intel’s seventh-generation processors are not Windows 11 compatible. Also, Microsoft’s Windows 11 doesn’t support seventh-generation Intel processors.

Specifications of the Intel i5-7500 processor:

  • 4 cores
  • 3.8 GHz clock speed

Why is the Intel i5-7500 not supported for Windows 11?

Although Microsoft specifically looked at Intel’s seventh-generation processors in order to determine whether Windows 11 is compatible with seventh-generation processors, and expects seventh-generation Intel processors to be compatible with Windows 11 in the second round of testing. However, there is no final confirmation on whether Intel’s 7th generation processors are compatible with Windows 11.

The specific reason why Windows 11 is not compatible with Intel’s seventh-generation processors is not known, but we speculate that it may be because Microsoft is worried that incompatible systems and processors will increase the probability of system crashes. This is why Microsoft has repeatedly emphasized that systems that do not meet the hardware requirements for upgrading Windows 11 and have a higher than usual crash rate will not be able to install Windows 11.

How to install Windows 11 on Intel i5-7500 system?

While the Intel i5-7500 is not compatible with Windows 11, there are still ways to install Windows 11 on Intel i5-7500 based devices. However, Windows 11 cannot be installed on Intel i5-7500 processor-based devices using the normal Windows 10 upgrade method. However, Microsoft does allow a clean install of Windows 11 on unsupported systems.

Users with Windows 11 installed on unsupported PCs are advised to set up Windows 11 in dual-boot mode. Windows 11 can be installed on a separate hard drive so you can dual boot between Windows 11 or Window 10 based operating systems.
