XBFs Supports Microsoft Paint Dark Mode in Windows 11

About 4 months ago, Microsoft claimed that the dark mode for Microsoft Paint will be supported with the new Fluent design and Mica material. Till now, there is still no news updated officially about the progress. While today, a third-party developer @AhmedWalid605 twitted that XBFs was released to make change to Ms Paint for dark mode.

If you can not wait for the official update (no news was announced), you can download XBFs to experience the dark mode for paint.

In the picture posted by XBFs developer, we can see that the new element on Windows 11 are supported, such as rounded corners, new dialogs for brushes, color picker, as well as Mica.

Though it is a third-party tool, you can still use the color editing feature to change the color according to your preference.

How to get dark mode for Windows 11 Paint?

Till now, we’re still not clear when Microsoft will support the dark mode for paint. So if you would like to test, please follow the steps:

Note: Only Windows 11 Insiders on the Dev channel is supported.

Step 1: Download XFBs here.

Step 2: Extract the Zip file you downloaded and enable dev mode

Step 3: Uninstall Paint;

Step 4: Add-AppxPackage -Register .\AppxManifest.xml
