Microsoft announced Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.120 release in the Dev and Beta Channels on August 5, 2021. Lots of people want to be the first one to update their Windows systems and try the new features and improvements. This article is going to tell you how to update your Windows 11 to the build 22000.120 and introduce the improvements of the new version.
How to update Windows 11?
If you have not installed Windows 11 yet, you can download and install Windows 11 at first. If you’ve already install Windows 11, follow the steps below to update it to the latest Windows 11 now.
Go to settings and click on Windows Update. It will automatically check the updates.

After a while, the scanning results will appear on your screen. Click on Dev Channel under Choose your Insider settings.

Then go back to Windows Update, you will find your PC is auto downloading and installing Cumulative Update for Windows 11 and Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus.

After Install and Restart, you can go to settings>about to check whether you update to Windows 11 new version or not.

What are the changes and improvements of new Windows 11?
1 Display Settings
Windows 11 update newly adds the Display settings to access monitor & settings quickly, especially when you have multiple monitors.

2 Chat Icon
Start to rollout the notification badge for the Chat App on the Taskbar. It allows users to directly check the unread notifications on the taskbar. Moreover, Windows 11 new version improves the close button in the preview window of taskbar.

3 Family widget
You can create and use a new Family widget if your family members have Microsoft account. You can know the recent activities of your family member in the family widget. For parents, they can monitor children’s whereabouts and screen time.

4 Task view
Windows 11 update improves the UI of task view. It will adjust the Task automatically.
5 File Explorer’s right-click
This new Windows 11 do some improvements for desktop. It updates the file explorer’s right-click (context menu), which displays a compact interface for mouse users. The new Windows 11 finally solves the problem that the file explorer’s right-click of previous Windows 11 is too large on the desktop.
6 Fix some bugs
- Improve the spacing and thumbnail sizes within ALT + Tab, Task View and snap assist.
- File Explorer will display the updated scroll bar in dark mode.
- Fix explorer.exe crashes.
- Fix memory leak bug that impacts File Explorer.
- Fix scrollbar issues.
- Fix issue affecting the file operation dialogs.
