How to Save Spotlight Images on Windows 11?

Windows users can download Spotlight images and set the Spotlight images as the desktop or lock screen image on Windows 11. This article will tell you how to download and save Spotlight images on Windows 11. Follow the steps below.

1 Open the Run dialog by pressing Windows key + R keys.

2 Copy and paste the path below into the Run box and press Enter:

3 With the assets folder open, click Sort > More > Size from the command bar at the top.

4 Select files over 500 KB in the folder.

5 Right-click the file and choose Copy. Although these files cannot be viewed at this stage, but you can convert them later.

Note: You can directly rename files in the Assets folder to .jpg or .png. But you are not recommended to do so because it may cause your current desktop or lock screen image to go black. Most Spotlight images are 1920 x 1080. Therefore, they will not look good if you use a 4K monitor.

6 Open another File Explorer and browse Pictures folder.

7 Create a new folder within the Pictures folder by clicking New > Folder. Name the file to identify the image (like Spotlight).

8 Open the created Spotlight folder, right-click in it, and select Paste from the menu.

9 Right-click the file that has been pasted into the folder and click Rename.

10 Add .jpg or .png to the end of the filename and press Enter to save.

View Spotlight Collection Images

Spotlight collection images are now visible and usable by adding the image file extension. For example, you can decide to use them as desktop wallpaper or as a permanent lock screen image.

If you want to view the file, double-click it to open it with Windows Photo Viewer or another photo application.

Use Spotlight Collection Image on Windows 11

Starting with build 22518, Spotlight collection images are available as a personalization option for backgrounds. Users of earlier versions should enable Windows Spotlight for the lock screen by default.

If you don’t already see these images on your Windows 11 system, go to Settings > Personalization > Lock Screen and make sure your Lock Screen Personalization is set to Windows Focus.

Now you can save your Spotlight collection images for use elsewhere by above steps. For example, if you want to use an image as a permanent background, you can bypass the other image and save it from your secret assets folder using the steps above.
