Google Play Blocks Downloads & Updates for Paid Apps in Russia

As early in March, Google Play stopped to support its billing system in Russia due to the sanctions. Then the Russian can not buy apps and games or pay for subscriptions and any in-app purchases via Google Play.

While recently, it is reported that Russian users and developers can not download or update paid Apps from the Google Play Store, starting from this Thursday. That means: for compliance reasons, all updates to paid apps will be blocked automatically. It is no doubt that Google performs more severe restrictions for the developers and users in Russia.

But the good news is that the free apps can still be published and updated by the developers and the users are still allowed to download them from the store.

As part of our compliance efforts, Google Play is blocking the downloading of paid apps and updates to paid apps in Russia starting May 5, 2022

Therefore, developers are advised to submit free apps only on Google Play.
